Film Studies for Maciej Kuciara's class

I was fortunate enough to be allowed to sit in on an advanced entertainment design class taught by Maciej Kuciara. Class one's assignment was film frame studies in black and white.

Orc Peon

The topic today on the Spitpaint group on facebook. No photo textures allowed and the piece must be completed in under 30 minutes. Started as a spitpaint, then progressed into a little more. Only about 2 hours spent on this. Trying to nail down that style that Ryan Lang has been doing on those awesome Gargoyles pieces. Here is some process. =)

Color Application

Another attempt at a previously tried style. No color or reference used. Completed in just over an hour. Very inspired by Shaddy Safadi and Mike Yamada.

Recent Sketches

Some recent work that I have posted up on my instagram @aaroncandraw. I have been focusing on color and light recently, by far my biggest weakness as an artist. There are also a couple of doodles from my sketchbook for the past few weeks.
